Flynn, Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association Professional Gardeners Networking Group Date: 9.22.15 Topic: Social Media: Creative ideas using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and others to promote your business and create a following Attendance: 4 Notes: Questions Posed: What Social Media platforms do you use and how?  Company Website  FaceBook  Twitter  Constant Contact  Blog  Pintrist  YouTube  LikedIn  Instagram  Platforms are used to generate leads, engage current clients, promote sales, share news/information of interest, promote services, work (photos!), link to current events Do you/how do you measure its effectiveness?  Not as good as we should  Using the built-in features of open rates, etc. Who in the company uses it? Are any outside consultants used?  Outside consultants are used in some companies.  Who used it within the company varied. One had roles defined by position, another had only one designated user. Where do you get content? Do you use scheduling features?  Content sources included internal creation, re-tweeting content by others, linking to other sources  Hootsuite was named as a resource for both scheduling features and measuring effectiveness.  HubSpot was named as a resource for Social Media strategies in general. We talked about how none of these platforms does any good unless you have “followers” and the need to capture them; the need to be better about keeping website info up-to-date, responding within the social media platforms, as well as frequency of postings. We also touched briefly on SEO, using WordPress, Angie’s List, and Houzz. We opened up discussion for future topics and meeting places. Feel free to submit yours! (
