The Responsible Contractor Bill imposes stiff requirements to complywith certain wage and affirmative action statutes, but the penalties are so severe that they could threaten the existence of public contractors that make innocent mistakes. Contractors bidding on public contracts for over $50,000 must be very diligent in making sure they are in compliance with every single requirement listed in the bill, as failing to comply or making a false statement about compliance can have serious ramifications.

  1. Due Process Concerns
  2. Harsh Punishment for Honest Mistakes
  3. Administrative Burden
  4. Potential for Increased Litigation
