This Twin Ports Climate Conversation will focus on green infrastructure practices from the scale of the residential home to the municipality - and everything in between! While most of these practices are installed to control runoff and stormwater, we will also explore the many additional benefits these practices contribute to the environment such as wildlife habitat, pollinator food source, and generally being cute and leading to curious neighbors. We'll chat about rain barrels, rain gardens, pervious pavers, as well as detention basins and constructed wetlands, and a suite of other low maintenance practices one can do to reduce stormwater pollution. After an inspirational presentation, join us for an engaging discussion with panelists with expertise covering a range of green infrastructure topics, including city infrastructure, native plantings, and green infrastructure design and engineering. Come prepared to dip your toes into a variety of green infrastructure practices, and leave with grand plans for a bioswale along every sidewalk.
