Cost:  Unless otherwise noted, webinars are free for MNLA members; $29 for non-members.

Presenter:  Dr. Vera Krischik, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist, Department of Entomology, University of Minnesota

Description:  In forests native beneficial insects control pest insects. Learn about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and how to conserve beneficial insects. IPM can be used to manage trees, landscapes, turf, and greenhouse pests. The IPM  principles are the same, but the pests are different.

  • Learn what insecticides to use to kill pests and conserve predators, parasitoids, and bees.
  • Learn how to identify beneficial insects in 20 different families.
  • Learn how to modify the environment to increase the number of beneficial insects. 
  • Discuss ways to advertise IPM programs to decrease insecticide use and increase safety.
  • Learn about the issue of bee friendly plants free of systemic insecticides and whether it is important.


  • The webinar begins at 12:00 p.m.
  • The webinar is 50 minutes with 10 minute discussion and questions.
  • A handout of the slides and a management bulletin will be provided

  • MNLA webinars are approved for MNLA CP recertification at 1 CEU per hour of instruction attended.
