Course Description

Are you aware of and ready for the new OSHA Silica Safety Standard?  Get the information you need to keep your employees safe and your business in compliance.

This course is specific to the landscape industry, and will assist employers in complying with the new OSHA silica safety standard.  It is important to identify the materials that likely contain silica, tasks that create silica hazards, the health risks associated with exposure to silica, how to work safely with silica, what the competent person requirements are, etc.  
The course will include information such as implementing engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment controls, suitable hygiene practices, medical surveillance requirements, written program requirements, and potential tools/equipment available in order to protect employees from silica hazards.   

1:00 p.m.—3:00 p.m.:  Presentation on the Silica Standard—What it requires, what it means to be competent, etc.
3:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m.:  Suppliers and Manufacturers—Equipment Information and Demonstrations

Course Instructor

The course instructor, Adam Tripp, is the Safety Services Department Manager at TBG. TBG is a self-insured Workers' Comp fund for contractors and construction related businesses. 

Tripp and the Safety Services team work together with TBG’s 720+ Member companies to help provide safety solutions for trade specific exposures along with ideas for continual improvement. He has a Masters in Environmental Health and Safety and ASP Certification.

MNLA Registration Refund Policy: For all MNLA education events, MNLA will gladly make a full refund of your registration fee if cancellation notice is received more than two business days in advance of the event. In the two business days prior to the event, a 50 percent refund will be given. No refunds will be given for no-shows or cancellations made the day of the event. Cancellations may be made in writing, by fax, or by telephone call received at the MNLA office during normal business hours.
