MNLA statement on the loss of Todd Bachman
The Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Todd Bachman, who was killed in an apparent random act of violence in Beijing, China. As the CEO of Bachman's Inc., Todd has been a long time leader in the green industry in both Minnesota and the nation. He has held leadership positions with the Society of American Florists, the Minnesota Commercial Flower Growers Association, the North Central Florists Association, the Widmer Research & Education Fund, and the MNLA Foundation. He and his wife, Barbara, created the Bachman Endowed Chair in Horticultural Marketing at the University of Minnesota, the first position of its kind in the country. They also supported the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and many other industry and community causes. All of us who have had the privilege of knowing Todd Bachman are devastated by this loss. Todd was a caring and generous person. In recent years, he was instrumental in the establishment and development of the MNLA Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the outdoor living environment by investing in research and education. Todd understood and supported the need for green industry companies to secure the long-term viability of the industry by funding research and educational endeavors. We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend the condolences of the green industry community to the Bachman family. You can honor Todd's life by sharing memories on the guestbook at www.bachmans.com.
