MDA’s Pesticide Applicator Licensing
Instructor: Clarissa Hammond, MDA
This session will review approaches to vertebrate pest management as well as discuss effective techniques to managing various pest species.
Instructor: John Loegering, University of Minnesota
This session will cover safety, basic animal biology by species, animal removal (Including trapping, chemical and fumigation options), disposition, transportation and disposal. Information on bird exclusion will also be included.
Instructor: Jeremy Taft, Professional Wildlife Control
John Loegering has worked on wildlife issues in urban and residential settings for over a decade. He is a regular contributor on wildlife-related topics to the Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, and White Earth Summer Science & Math Academy programs. He conducts research on the ecology and management of forest songbirds. During the academic year, he teaches courses in wildlife ecology and management, ornithology, mammalogy, and fisheries on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. He is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and H.T. Morse Distinguished Teaching Professor.
Jeremy Taft has worked in both the pest control and the wildlife control industries for over thirteen years. Jeremy began his career as a technician and progressed to management. Jeremy is currently the owner of Professional Wildlife Control, and holds several structural pest control category licenses, including Fumigator and Master. Taft is a member and certified instructor of the Minnesota Trappers Association. He is also a member of the Minnesota State Representative for the National Wildlife Control Operators Association. Jeremy has given numerous presentations on both pest control and on wildlife control. Jeremy’s well rounded experience in training, presentations, management and ownership in all realms of the pest control industry give him with a unique ability to articulate real world situations that other technicians, managers and owners can easily understand.
